The best Google Pixel 3a Mutile cases In One Review

Midrange, but worthy of protection: Here are the best Pixel 3a cases

But while the polycarbonate body is tough, protection is a good idea, and a good case can add some extra utility too. Here are some of the best Pixel 3a cases to keep your new phone safe.

Spigen Liquid Crystal Case

Spigen Rugged Armor Designed for Google Pixel 3a Case (2019) - Matte Black

A great, clear case can add a decent amount of protection to your phone without adding significant bulk or distracting from your phone’s great design. Spigen’s Liquid Crystal case is one of the best options out there if you’ve decided that a clear case is the best choice for you. It’s made from shock absorbent TPU, and comes with Spigen’s Air Cushion technology on each corner to protect against drops, as well as scratches and bumps. TPU has its limits though, so this case won’t be as protective as a chunkier case would be. But if you want a good, clear case at a price that won’t break the bank, this is it.

Incipio DualPro Case

Buy From Amazon.com

$17.49 in stock

Incipio DualPro Google Pixel 3a XL Case - Black

Incipio has long-offered great drop protection in a stylish and minimalist shell, and the new Incipio DualPro is no exception. It’s a double-layer case, and the outer shell of hard polycarbonate keeps your phone safe from scratches, while the inner TPU core keeps it safe from drops and other shocks. Incipio claims it offers military-grade drop protection, and also says it’s protected against drops of up to ten feet high. It’s a heady boast, but Incipio has the pedigree to back it up. It’s a tad expensive at $30 though, and you can definitely find more stylish cases if you’re looking for a subtler look. But if you’re fine with the style and really love the drop protection, go ahead and grab it.

Case-Mate Twinkle Case

$35.69 in stock

Case-Mate - Google Pixel 3a Case - Twinkle - Stardust

If you want a case that’s sure to add a touch of glamor to your Pixel 3a, then you can do a lot worse than Case-Mate’s Twinkle case. The Twinkle case lives up to its name thanks to the iridescent glitter foil on the back that changes as you move it, twinkling in an eye-catching way. But it’s not all beauty and no brawn. Case-Mate claims the Twinkle case is tough enough to be proof against drops of up to 10 feet, ensuring great protection. Metallic buttons and flexible sides help to complete the case’s look, resulting in a case that catches your eye, but also protects your phone from drops and damage. On the negative side, it is expensive — but can you put a price on style?

Olixar Novashield Bumper Case

Buy From Amazon.com

$12.99 in stock

Olixar for Google Pixel 3a Bumper Case - Hard Tough Slim Cover - Clear Back - Shock Protection - NovaShield - Wireless Charging Compatible - Black

It’s not often we come across a clear case that’s rugged, protective, sleek, and stylish, but Olixar’s NovaShield seems to check all of those boxes. It’s made from a dual-layered design that combines the scratch-resistance of polycarbonate with the soft, shock-absorbing properties of TPU, and comes with air pockets in the corners to help bolster the case against drops and bumps. The clear polycarbonate back allows your Pixel 3a’s design to shine through, while the TPU bumper offers it a safe and secure frame. The NovaShield is a good all-around case that offers good looks and good protection at a good price.

If you want sheer protection, then there’s only one place to go — straight to Otterbox. It uses a multilayer construction to keep your phone safe, but also includes an optional holster with a belt clip that doubles as a hands-free kickstand. It comes with port covers to keep your phone free of dirt and debris, and the outer shell is soft and grippy, keeping it in your hand. We’ve chosen the Purple Nebula color to match the Pixel 3a’s new Purple-ish color, but you can also get it in Black and the classy Dark Lake options. It is expensive, but if you need supreme protection, it’s a great choice.

Aukey Graphite 10W Wireless Fast Charger The Cheapest Price For A Reable Charger ($27)

AUKEY USB C Wireless Fast Charger, 10W Qi Wireless Charging Pad Compatible Samsung S9 / S9+ / S8 / Note9 / Note8, iPhone Xs/XS Max/XR/X / 8/8 Plus, and Other Qi-Enabled Devices

The AUKEY Fast Wireless Charger is a 10W charging pad for your Qi-enabled devices. Its sleek, minimal and has a great graphite design and look to it. This fast charging pad is a great addition to any household.

Inside the box is the pad itself, micro-USB cable and instructions. But no power adapter, this was a surprise and did have to dig around my flat to find a spare one. The design of the charger is sleek, with a graphite brush style to it. The whole texture is non-slip, so I know I can place my phone on it and it won’t slip off.

I have been using this every night I have gone to bed, and have found my phone fully charged each time. I was a little worried about over-heating but it was a normal temperature each time I took it off. Testing this on my S9+ and iPhone XR, I found neither had any issues with the pad or heat issues.

AUKEY 10W Fast Wireless Charger Pad Specs:

  • Model Number: LC-Q6
  • Input: 5V 2A, 9V 1.6A
  • Maximum Power Output: 10W
My only issue with Wireless charging pads themselves is that it will take a couple of attempts to find the right position to charge my phone. The LED on the front is red when it’s not charging and green when it does. So I don’t have to sit up to make sure my phone is charging.

I have tried various cases on my phone, and the phone will charge each time. Even though plastic leather cases, which I was really surprised to find out. This is the perfect charger for me, as it is a place and leave the device, and the fact I don’t have to take off the case is a massive bonus for me.

iOttie’s iON Wireless Charging Stand review: A Reasonable Price For A Relaible Charger ($40)

Buy From Amazon.com

 $39.95 in stock

iOttie iON Wireless Fast Charging Stand || Qi-Certified Charger 7.5W for iPhone Xs Max R 8 Plus 10W for Samsung S9 Note 9 | Includes USB C Cable & AC Adapter | Ash

The iON Wireless Stand, just like the rest of the company’s wireless charging products, is covered in cloth-like fabric. The material is reminiscent of that on a Google Home Mini. There are three colors to pick from—ruby, ash, ivory, which translates to red, gray, and white.
So is intake for are underneath the front.

There are two Qi-compatible charging coils in the stand, meaning you can place your phone in a portrait or landscape orientation and it should still charge without issue.

For $50 you get the stand, a USB-C cable, and a wall adapter to power the stand. The pad provides 10W charging to compatible Android devices, and 7.5W to iOS devices.

In our tests, the iON Wireless Stand charged the Samsung Galaxy S9 from completely drained to full in an average time of 179 minutes, or 2 hours and 59 minutes. That’s in the middle of the pack of the wireless chargers we’ve tested so far.

Where the iON Wireless Stand really excels is with an iPhone. Using an iPhone XS, the stand averaged a 44 percent charge in 60 minutes, beating all other charging pads I’ve tested by 8 percent. At first, I chalked up the difference in speed to the fact that the iPhone XS has a different charging coil configuration that Apple claims allows it to charge faster, despite still using 7.5W charging speeds.

So I tested it with my wife’s iPhone X, and the end result was 42 percent. The iON Wireless Stand can charge an iOS device with speed.

The iON Wireless Stand isn’t a black hockey puck-like accessory that you have to figure out how to hide in your house. Instead, it looks nice and is capable of efficiently charging your device.

The fabric-clad iOttie iON Wireless Stand not only looks stylish, but it's also speedy, particularly with iPhones.

Pros

  • Fast charging for Android and iOS alike
  • Well designed
  • Works in landscape or portrait orientation

Cons

  • Pricey

Native Union's terrazzo wireless charger and iPhone cases Review ($150)

Native Union has once more ventured into the unique with a new line of handmade terrazzo cases and wireless chargers. AppleInsider tested them out to see if they are more style than function.

Buy From Amazon.com

$149.99 in stock

NATIVE UNION Dock Wireless Charger TERRAZZO Edition

A non-traditional material

Native Union has somewhat of a reputation for using non-traditional materials in its designs. We've seen metal, marble, and others used in their creation of chargers, cables, cases, and more.

The new line of cases and wireless chargers is made of a custom terrazzo compound. Terrazzo is normally a cementitious binder with chips of various materials strewn about. Commonly that includes marble, quartz, granite, and glass though the only one confirmed to be used by Native Union is Jesmonite.

This creates an entirely unique pattern on each case and charger manufactured. Because of the unique creation process, each one is handcrafted —at least to some extent. Certain components are still produced the traditional way such as the frame of the iPhone case.

The iPhone case

Up first, is the Native Union terrazzo iPhone case.

Using that terrazzo compound, this is the standard Native Union case with an inlaid pattern covering the bulk of the back. The case is a standard shell design that easily snaps on and off the phone.

This case provides protection on all sides of the phone, including the bottom which is often left uncovered. A lip around the front keeps the screen from touching the surface it is placed on, ensuring rough textured surfaces won't mark up the display.

At the bottom of the back of the case is a small slash mark which represents the only manufacturer mark on the outside.

The case is stylish and well built, but it doesn't move the needle in terms of drop protection or quality in terms of the shell. Terrazzo here looks great but otherwise feels like a run of the mill case.

Wireless charger

Next, we spent some time powering up with the terrazzo wireless charger.

This charger is a bit oversized and mimics other chargers from Native Union in that regard. It is shaped like a circle with a leveled off portion at the bottom for stability, similar to a flat tire. Towards the bottom is a cutout for the stand portion to be inserted. The stand is made of metal and has quite a large amount of heft to it. When assembled, the stand is as stable as it is eye-catching.

Within the terrazzo, there are two wireless charging coils. This allows for both vertical and horizontal orientations of your device. That makes it great for a perhaps watching a video or virtual alarm clock when horizontal.

The charger is powered over USB-C, which is great, but Native Union opts to omit a power adapter in this box. You're left to provide your own, though they do include a cable. Inside the box is a 6.5-foot USB-A to USB-C cable which is nylon wrapped and has reinforced over-molds and a leather strap to keep it organized. If it was up to us, a pure USB-C to USB-C would have been preferable.

Once more, the terrazzo material steals the show with a great pattern and a soft touch finish. It was also a nice touch to be able to pair the terrazzo case with the terrazzo charger.

The downside to the charger here though is lack of options. There is no additional USB output and it does occupy a larger footprint than your standard charger. If you go with the terrazzo wireless charging dock from Native Union, you are doing so to make a statement.

Native Union Drop Wireless Charger Review ($60)

Buy From Amazon.com

$59.99 in stock

Native Union Drop - High Speed Wireless Charger [Qi Certified] 10W Non-Slip Fast Wireless Charging Pad - Compatible with iPhone Xs/XS Max/XR/X/8/8 Plus (Slate)

Outfitted in fabric and aluminum, Los Angeles/Hong Kong luxe tech accessorizer Native Union arrives fashionably late to the wireless Qi charger party with a handsomely outfitted Qi wireless charger, the Native Union Drop.

Coming off the heels of CES and the recent Maison & Objet in Paris, the LA+HK based Native Union reinforces their reputation as a brand placing design on equal footing with technology, presenting a hard-wearing home textile top integrated with a non-slip silicone tread above an aircraft grade aluminum base – each an aesthetic and functional treatment designed to keep devices in place while also prevent overheating.

Underneath the fabric and silicone patterned top, a thermal protection sensor and foreign object detection keeps devices safe while inching back toward 100%.

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, and any other Qi enabled devices, the Drop’s 10W charging base ships with a matching USB-C to USB-A 6.5 foot braided charging cable, complete with an integrated leather strap for wrapping up the cable to adjust the length or for tidy storage (the all-black ensemble could be customized further with one of the company’s other existing USB-C to USB-A belted cables).

Note, the Drop is a 10W charger and thus doesn’t rate for fast charging; impatient iPhone X users should look elsewhere for fast charging options (it’s still double the 5W charger shipping with the iPhone X).

For those looking to get the…ahem…drop on the $60 Native Union Drop Wireless Charger, mark your calendars for March when the charging pad becomes available via NativeUnion.com.
